We're going to start with... nutrition!

You can go to the gym for hours, lift heavy weights, run 3 miles 5 times a week, but nothing, and I mean nothing will change unless you change some (or most) of your eating habits. If your current eating habits consists of some sort of bread or sugary cereal, or even a 'protein' bar in the morning, you are already setting yourself up for failure for the rest of the day. You've probably heard this all before, but like I said, you won't find anything ground-breaking here, but simple steps to take to get healthier.

Our simple approach to nutrition is two main rules - rule 1 is to prioritize protein and make sure what you are eating has very limited ingredients. The reason I mentioned protein bars above is because many of those bars we pick up at our favorite grocery store consists of SO many ingredients, look at the label! Do you even know what some of those things are? If you can't even pronounce some ingredients, put it down. Additionally, most have added sugar, which brings me to my rule number 2, which is, you guessed it, eliminate sugar, at least as much as you can. Do you still add sugar to your coffee? Stop! Does that creamer you have to make your coffee lighter have added sugars in it? Replace it with a simple creamer. Ask yourself this, is there other instances where you have sugar intake? You may not even realize since many products we pick up in the store contain sugar.

Incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your meals should also be something you should pay attention to. I know, I know, fruit, really? I'm sure you are reading this with the same gusto my favorite comedian has when fruit is being discussed. Doesn't fruit turn into sugar though? This article helps debunk this notion and fruit is actually essential to providing the necessary nutrients for our bodies.

That is really it, no weighing food, no counting points here, it is a simple approach, prioritize protein, eat foods with limited ingredients, and eliminate sugar. Sounds pretty simple, right?

We will be sharing some of our favorite go-to dinner meals that our whole family enjoys, even our picky eating daughter! So if you are still reading this and want to start your Voyage to a healthier lifestyle, we're glad you are here and taking that first step!
